Oh, and by the way . . .

That "cake" from yesterday was actually a three layer rice krispie treat with frosting!
On the other hand, I did actually make the chocolate Guinness cake (but only one layer!) for JK's Dresden Files themed birthday.  So, here's that cake, too!  Complete with Dresden-authentic magical symbols.
And, here's the actual pictures from this "cake"!
And here are KEB's actual birthday cupcakes!
But, the thing about my thumb?  That's the truth.  Can't make this stuff up.

Rice Krispie Cake
Cake layers from A Subtle Revelry
Frosting from Food Network

12 tbsp. butter, divided into 3 parts
3-10 oz. bags of marshmallows
7 cups of three types of cereals

Prepare a 9 inch springform pan by lining the bottom with a circle of parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking oil.

Melt together the 4 tbsp. of butter and 1 bag of marshmallows in a large pan.  When the marshmallows are mostly melted, stir 7 cups of one cereal into the marshmallow mixture.

Pour the mixture into the pan, and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.  Then pop out, and place on parchment paper.

Repeat with each of the three cereals.

Frosting:
1 1/2 cup butter
4 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 1/2 tsp.vanilla
2-3 tbsp. heavy cream

Cream the butter with a mixer.  Slowly add the sugar while mixing on low speed.  Add the vanilla and heavy cream and mix until fluffy.

In order to assemble, layer all three of  the layers on the cake platter.  Frost the top and sides and decorate as desired!  Cut with a sharp serrated knife.
